I know myself pretty well by now.
When I start something new, I'm much more likely to follow through if I don't feel alone. And that's why it quickly became clear to me: I'll learn to crochet together with my community on livestream.
Before that, however, I tried to learn the magic ring behind the scenes.
I'll tell it like it is: Damn, that's hard! 😄
After a few attempts, however, I realized that I learn new things much better when I can see them. So I went straight to YouTube and looked for a tutorial.
My very first real project was created in the stream: a colorful bandana – step by step according to the wonderful video tutorial “Crochet a bandana – Crochet tutorial” by justMiko.
I was incredibly excited. Every stitch was new, I constantly had to count and hope not to forget anything. Of course, my community didn't make it any easier. They kept trying to distract me from counting with little jokes.
...but only almost. 😄
And then I suddenly held it in my hands: my first self-crocheted bandana.
It turned out wonderfully colorful, certainly not perfect, but that's exactly why I love it so much. For me, it's not just yarn, but the courage to try something completely new, a lot of laughter with my community, and the realization that learning can be incredibly fun.
Of course, I wear my bandana with great pride today. Not because it's flawless, but because it's the beginning of something that now means an incredible amount to me.
